RestaurantsRestaurants and eating out

There is an enormous choice of restaurants in Nerja to suit all tastes, most of which we have not yet tried – but we are working on it!

El-PulguillaTry the Tapas at one of our favourites ‘El Pulguilla’

Stroll along Almirante Ferrandiz where the post office is located and you'll find a few nice open terrace restaurants on what is a pedestrianised zone in the evening. El Pulguilla is a good choice for tapas. Just left after the Chinese restaurant and Hostal Miguel is c/Gloria which is a tiny street packed with locals and tourists alike. The Round Bar is a good place for a drink and they serve free tapas whilst nice restaurants include the Greek restaurant Poseidon, Restaurante Sevillano with its roof terrace and El Burro.

Tapas can be practically anything from a chunk of tuna, cocktail onion and an olive skewered on a long toothpick to meat with sauce served piping hot in a miniature clay dish. They are served day in and day out in every bar and café in Spain. So much a part of the culture and social scene that the Spanish people invented the verb tapear which means to go and eat tapas!

In most regions, you must order and pay for a ración or serving, but in El Pulguilla, one tapas is complimentary with each round of drinks ordered.

Frigiliana

(A very pleasant mountain village with lots of history situated above Nerja).

The most popular restaurant is the Garden Bar/Restaurant, which offers excellent views of the valley below, but the food is no better than average, with prices that are a bit higher than average.

There is however a selection of small family run restaurants that offer much better value, and often have a roof terrace with excellent views.
